She Dreams in Blood (The Obsidian Path #2) by Michael R. Fletcher - Book Review 05, Aug

She Dreams in Blood is the second, dark as fuck, novel in the Obsidian Path series by Michael Fletcher. As in the first book, content warnings galore should point the squeamish in another direction. This book moves beyond the antihero as a protagonist, pushing Khraen, the main character into uncharted waters. Our hero is a villain, plain and simple. But for those of us who are drawn to dark stories and narratives that plumb the depths of the human condition, the book is not only unique, but very compelling.

Black Stone Heart (The Obsidian Path #1) by Michael R. Fletcher - Book Review 15, Apr

I had heard a lot of good things about Black Stone Heart, so my expectations were high going in. Obviously, as a grimdark writer myself, I knew it would be right in my wheelhouse, as long as it delivered. But of course, it is often the case that high expectations have a way of souring our enjoyment of things. After reading Black Stone Heart, I can assure you, that was NOT the case. I loved this book! It’s probably my favorite read in over a year. It got its hooks in me right away and did not let up.

I had learned a couple of months ago that Michael R. Fletcher and Clayton W. Snyder would be releasing a novel together. I had no idea what the book would be about, but I immediately jumped at the chance to review it, as I had no doubt in my mind that it would be a uniquely maddening and wild experience. As most who’ve read the works of Fletcher and Snyder, I’ve grown accustomed to being genuinely awed, thrilled, and disturbed whenever delving into one of their books. And holy crap was I not disappointed with Norylska Groans!
