Conclusions can be tricky, and I've been disappointed by quite a few. Thankfully, The Silver Tide does not belong in that unfortunate category. The denouement of this underrated Copper Cat trilogy was utterly satisfying and even brought a little lump in my throat as I bid farewell to the Black Feather Three to whom I've grown quite attached.

The Iron Ghost is a strong sequel to The Copper Promise. We have the necessary development of the main characters, whom I have grown to like quite a fair bit. Then there are higher stakes at hand and expanded worldbuilding. And to top it all off, a whole lot more magic is involved in the storytelling.

The Copper Promise is a good debut from Jen Williams; one which harkens back to the days of classic sword and sorcery fantasy with a quest or adventure, mages, knights, dragons and gods.
