What book did you enter SPFBO with, and is it your debut?
The Dragons of Esternes. Debut? No.
Tell us a few things about it. What should the Judge you'll be allocated to, expect from it?
Although it's epic in scale, it's a very personal story. The magic is probably unlike anything seen before (someone might have done it, but I doubt it - I know, that's a big claim). The dragons are not like any dragon you've seen before while the setting is unquestionable secondary world fantasy, but skewed.
Maybe Dragonriders of Pern meets Thomas Covenant?
Editor’s Note: Big claims indeed! I’m looking forward to hearing what the judge thinks about this one.
WHERE DID YOU HIDE THE MONEY!??!?!
In a Slissac tower, but I'm not saying which one.
Why did you decide to enter SPFBO in the first place?
I entered previously with a different book set in the same world so why not? But, IMO, this is the only reputable competition for indie fantasy authors.
Are you working on a book right now? What should we expect from you next?
Well I'm just finishing the second in an erotic slice-of-life series set in my steampunk world. After that I have a couple of sequels to write in the same world as Dragons (but for a different series in that world).
Anything else you would like to add? A message to the other contestants, the Judges, or Mark Lawrence himself?
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Depends on whether it really is a swallow or, in fact, a /melinak/. If the latter the answer is very fast indeed. But you'd have to read my book to understand :-)
(Just to be clear: I intentionally avoided the obvious answer.)
Editor’s Note: Thank you for that. Good luck in the competition!
