Welcome to BookNest.eu! Can you tell us a few things about yourself?

A huge admirer of Terry Pratchett and Robert Jordan, I am a fantasy addict always looking for ways to write the best story possible. I think that fantasy is the One True Genre from which all other stories spring and that those of us who read and write it are honoring a tradition of imagination and creation as old as humanity. Oh, and I'm also a mom of two small boys and I live in rural Canada.

Editor’s Note: As a Pratchett and Jordan admirer myself, welcome!

What book did you enter SPFBO with, and is it your debut?

Summernight, Book One of the Bridge of Legends series. This is not my debut.

Tell us a few things about it. What should the Judge you'll be allocated to, expect from it?

Summernight is a fast-paced fantasy adventure set in the middle of a fantasy festival gone wrong. Two protagonists race against each other with just five days to achieve their goals. But if one succeeds, the other will die.

Expect a quick, vivid read with unexpected twists.

You'll compete against 299 other books. Do you believe your book will stand out against the competition, and if yes, why?

Summernight gives you the thrills of a classic fantasy novel with fun new magic and under-dog heroes, but it also has a fresh new flavor and a blockbuster ending. For those reasons, I think Summernight will do well in SPFBO.

Editor’s Note: We hope so, good luck!

WHERE DID YOU HIDE THE MONEY!??!?!

Under the dragon. Best place for it.

Editor Note: Yet another cache we'll never get back...

Why did you decide to enter SPFBO in the first place?

I love all the attention that SPFBO draws to great indie fantasy books. I've enjoyed expanding my horizons and finding new authors to love in this exciting event.

Are you working on a book right now? What should we expect from you next?

I'll be releasing (and writing) Bridge of Legends books every two months for the next year. I am also writing and releasing a new novella serial every eighteen days, starting in August: Dragon Tide - for younger readers.

Editor’s Note: That’s quite the workload you’ve taken upon yourself; we admire that!

Anything else you would like to add? A message to the other contestants, the Judges, or Mark Lawrence himself?

SPFBO is a fun time for authors and readers, but like any fun event that works, you can tell that the people working behind the scenes have really put effort in to make this possible. Thank you for your hard work and I hope that SPFBO 5  provides you with the best entertainment yet!

Editor’s Note: A better wish we couldn't ask for. Thanks for joining us, Sarah!

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

African or European?

Filip Magnus

Filip picked up his first fantasy novel when he was seven and hasn’t stopped reading since. A critical reader who judges novels on their technical use of language and plot alike, he has a soft spot for literary fiction and tragic, heroic tales.

In his free time, Filip writes fiction, makes gaming reviews on YouTube, and maintains a personal blog. All that when he’s not too busy going through piles of books in as short a time as possible.
